Welcome to my Blog!

Welcome.
I am using the blog to post new creations of mine, mostly photography and new jewelry designs, but I also may write about current issues or concerns. I have been placing posts on my blog for a little while.
Please also visit my website: www.khkrena.com.  You will find a contact link on my website to inquire about jewelry availability, price or more information. Most of the time, I create one-of-a-kind necklaces, and it is easier for me to post new designs here before I place them on my website. The necklaces can usually be custom sized or designed.
My photographs are also on sale at an international juried website, www. DiscoveredArtists.com where you will find my newest photographs, writing about them and my biographical information.  There are also wonderful pieces of art on the site from many talented artists.

THREE TURQUOISE AND RED JASPER NECKLACES

TURQUOISE AND RED JASPER NECKLACE 1 and 2—20": BOTH SOLD

THREE-STRAND TURQUOISE AND RED JASPER NECKLACE —23": SOLD

All three necklaces were inspired by the promise of spring.
Though the designs of the necklace may seem simple, I spent the entire day working out the patterns, and the three-strand necklace went through several re-designs. I rarely make two necklaces that are alike, but occasionally I use the same materials and create different designs while the initial strands are being pulled apart. I had never used 3 mm. faceted red jasper beads. I thought they were coral when I purchased them until I observed the natural veins today. I felt very inspired by the contrast with the graduated, heishi and seed turquoise beads, used them tentatively on the first necklace, and then used more.

SPRING EQUINOX AT BEACH BLUFF PARK AT PRESTON BEACH, SWAMPSCOTT, MASSACHUSETTS

The following are photographs from the recent spring equinox at the Sun Circle Sculpture, an astronomical sculpture, created by my husband, Bruce Greenwald, and installed in September 2009. You will see a pre-sunrise photograph of the ocean from the new park seawall and a sequence of photos of the sun rising between two columnar basalt columns.

This last image, early morning after the sunrise, should give you an idea of the overall sculpture.
Beach Bluff Park is overseen by the non-profit organization, the Clifton Improvement Association (CIA), www.ciabeachbluff.org, where you can see many photographs of the building of the Sun Circle amidst many of the organization and park's activities. This year, the park will be re-graded and refurbished after last year's construction of the seawall and the sculpture. This year's storms also left its debris so remediations will be attempted to minimize future damage.

NECKLACE

This 22-inch necklace contains dramatic, freeform, round rock crystals, approximately 25 mm., interspersed with iolite seed beads and punctuated with a garnets, an argentium silver (which helps resist tarnishing) magnetic clasp and a five-inch sterling extender.
Quartz amplifies energy. Quartz is a healing tool, which can be enhanced when infused with intention. Author Naisha Ahsian says iolite resonates with the energy of twilight. It ranges in color from medium to dark blue and is mostly translucent.
