THREE-STRAND FACETED AMETHYST NECKLACE

This is a three-strand, 22-inch faceted amethyst necklace with three types of beads: 6 mm. round faceted, 6 mm. faceted button and seed amethysts. It is finished with silver beads and clasp.

In this blog, I have already written about the metaphysical qualities of amethysts. I do research about what experts say about the beads and try to relay, in essence, what other believe to be true about the energy of the stones.

Do I believe that the stones have energy? Absolutely. Sometime in the blog, I will explain how I came to believe this is true. 

However, I also believe that something more personal happens with stones and the person who wears them. I think that the relationship is at once more simple and a bit more mysterious. The stones bond with the wearer, and the stones give the wearer what she needs.

AMETRINE AND AMETHYST NECKLACE

The faceted ametrine stones — a combination of amethyst and citrine — in this 20-inch matinee necklace are extraordinary and luminescent. They are separated by amethyst seed beads, and the necklace is punctuated by faceted amethysts at the end of a necklace with a sterling silver clasp.

Photographing darker stones are a challenge, and unfortunately, the photograph does not convey the huge amount of dazzling light that passes through each stone. The stones are arranged from the darkest amethyst in the center and then the amethysts get paler and go to pale green, yellow and clear.

When I purchased these stones, I was immediately drawn to them, but it took me a while to design what I wanted to do with them. I was in the middle of creating another necklace when the designed snapped into my awareness, and I immediately made it.

While this may seem backwards, the stones are always my starting point and not the design — or the idea of how I will use them. Thus, my necklaces look less like a collection and more like eclectic pieces. Some stones can be with me for a couple of years before I know what to do with them.

And often, they "tell me" when it's time to work on them.

AMETRINE AND AMETHYST NECKLACE                                           This 22-inch, matinee-length necklace contains free form, graduated ametrine sticks and amethyst seed beads with a four-inch sterling silver detachable extender. Ametrine, a blend of amethyst and citrine and in the quartz family,  is said to enhance clarity, creativity while also increasing energy and promoting harmony. Robert Simmons, author of The Book of Stones, says that amethyst generates an energy field of light, warding off negativity, and he recommends this stone to aid in meditation. Amethyst is also said to be a natural tranquilizer, facilitating decision-making and helping to dispel anger, fear and anxiety.

BLACK AGATE & SMOKY QUARTZ NECKLACE

This ultra-dramatic and substantial 26-inch necklace contains extraordinary, graduated banded black agate and smoky quartz beads.

Black agate is a name given to banded chalcedony, a quartz mineral. Used in jewelry in Neolithic times, black agate is said to be stabilizing, releasing stress,  affording protection and increasing courage. It is a stone for peace and healing, facilitating meditation and removing energy blockages.

Smoky quartz is a grounding stone, helping to relieve stress. Most often noted for its protective qualities, this stone is also said to bring equanimity and promote clear communications.

This 24-inch, matinee-length necklace contains 14 mm. round amethyst beads, silver seed beads, and a 50 mm. jade pendant with purple veins along with a four-inch detachable sterling silver extender and silver and amethyst earrings.

Jade is said to bring harmony, prosperity, longevity, confidence, serenity, wisdom, and stability.

Amethyst engenders contentment, balancing the body, the emotions and the intellect and bestowing strength, stability, and peace. It is also considered a protective stone.

ONYX AND CINNABAR
OPERA
NECKLACE

This dramatic 42-inch, opera-length necklace contains 14 mm. round and faceted onyx beads, seed onyx and carved red cinnabar in a variety of sizes and styles including a large 50 mm. round  pendant.

Onyx is said to repel negativity and assist in grounding and centering, improve instincts and self-control, stimulate wise decisions, and encourage happiness and good fortune.

The word, cinnabar,  is derived from the Eastern Indian word for dragon’s blood. Cinnabar is a stone, but these carved pieces are either wood or resin or a combination of both. Most cinnabar pieces in jewelry are not stone, as it contains mercury.

Jade — “a dream stone” — is said to bring lasting prosperity, longevity, confidence, serenity, wisdom and stability. Red jade is considered the most stimulating and passionate.

Rock quartz is considered the most powerful healing stone, and it raises spiritual energy.

AQUAMARINE NECKLACE WITH SILVER NECKLACE

This 27-inch, matinee-length heirloom necklace contains 7mm., 4 mm. faceted aquamarine beads, and a stunning and unusual silver pendant from Thailand, artist unknown.

Aquamarine is a blue-green variety of beryl with iron pigment. Its first use was in Greece between 300 and 500 B.C. In ancient lore, aquamarine was said to be a mermaid treasure, used as a talisman for good luck, intuitive communication, and happiness. 

Aquamarine facilitates peace, meditation, balance, tranquility, and serenity. An empowering and beautiful stone, it has a metaphysical softness and strength, combining the elements of the air and the ocean.
